How often should I see an orthodontist for brace treatment?

The frequency of visits depends on the type of braces. If you have chosen self-ligating braces (with caps to hold the arch), visits are relatively rare: in the first stages of treatment once every 2 months, in the middle of treatment every 1.5 months, in the last months — every month, because of the need for detailing. If ligature braces are installed, visits are required on average every 3-4 weeks. In such bracket systems, the arch is held by rubber ligatures, which quickly lose their elasticity.
