Ceramic braces, like the classic metal braces, consist of locks and bars. The locks are made of polycrystalline aluminum oxide — a translucent strong material, the color of which is very close to the natural shade of the teeth. The metal arches in esthetic systems remain visible.
In ceramic ligature braces, the ligatures are secured to the locks with clear or white elastic ligatures (rubber bands). Indirect fixation of ceramic braces
This method of installation requires prior training from an orthodontist. On the eve of fixing the braces, the doctor glues the locks to the exact impression of the patient's teeth in the right position according to the treatment plan. After that, the braces are transferred from the cast to a special mouthpiece.
Already at the appointment, after the patient's teeth have been treated, the orthodontist places the mouth guard with locks on the entire tooth row at once, the plastic mouth guard is removed and the ceramic braces remain on the teeth.
This method of retention is more precise in terms of treatment and more comfortable in the process.
Contraindications to ceramic braces
There are general contraindications to braces (not just ceramic braces). Who should not have braces fitted:
