Answer Petrova Elena Alexandrovna

Orthodontist, Team lead TMJ, experience 11 years

Based on the data provided, we can note that you are characterized by:

  1. Mesial bite;
  2. Severe crowding of teeth in the upper and lower jaws;
  3. Lack of teeth 46, 38, 24, 25, 28 ( an examination and X-ray examination are necessary to clarify the presence of dental rudiments inside the bone);
  4. Narrowing of the smile.

Such a situation can be solved in the following ways:

  1. Bite correction by moving the lower teeth backwards - this requires the space in the tooth row that we can get as a result:
    • tooth extractions on the right and left – in your case, the tooth on the bottom right is already missing;
    • distalization – when the entire dentition is moved backwards (up to 2 mm on each side): micro-implant support is required;
    • separation – grinding the teeth in a safe volume, as a result of which they are reduced in size and free the necessary space (up to 2-3 mm on each side).

    Limitation: tilt of the lower anterior teeth – it is necessary to evaluate the initial tilt on a 3D radiograph; also, some of the freed up space should be spent on flattening the crowding.

  2. Bite correction by moving the upper teeth forward – increasing the inclination of the incisors. In this case, we are limited by the bone volume in the area of the front teeth. It can only be assessed on a 3D image.
  3. Combination of 1 and 2 methods.
  4. Alignment of the dentition with or without tooth extraction and surgical movement of the lower jaw backward and/or the upper jaw forward.
  5. Is it possible? you will need an implant in the area of missing teeth in the upper jaw.

Based on the information we have at our disposal, we can offer you several possible solutions. In terms of efficiency, price/time compromise and taking into account your situation, we would recommend treatment with metal braces on both jaws.

Possible treatment options:

In terms of effectiveness, cost/time trade-off, and taking into account your situation, we would recommend that you treat with external metal braces Damon Q on the upper and lower jaw. These are the latest generation of self-ligating braces, the most effective and the most comfortable.

The course of treatment with an external brace system takes an average of 2 years to complete.

Please note that these recommendations are for informational purposes only.  Consultation and diagnosis by an orthodontist is required to make a diagnosis and prescribe a treatment plan.
