What should I do if my brace comes off?
The doctor's answer
Of course, it should be glued in place as soon as possible, but never do it yourself!
If your bracket has come off, the first thing you should do is try to keep it on until you get to the orthodontist. Self-ligating braces with caps (unless they are locks on the outermost teeth), will simply remain hanging on the arch — it is better not to remove them, so as not to lose them. In other cases, pack the lock and save it for your orthodontic visit. At your appointment, the orthodontist will glue it back in place, and you won't have to go without a brace while the clinic orders an extra lock to replace the lost one.
After you notice that the bracket has come off, call the clinic where you are undergoing treatment and make an appointment with the nearest orthodontist. As long as there is no lock in the system, orthodontic treatment is less effective.
It takes 15 minutes to glue the braces at an orthodontist's appointment. The doctor cleans the tooth, etches the enamel, applies an adhesive and glues the lock to the desired place. Then an arc is inserted into the locks, and the braces are active and working correctly again.
If you are undergoing treatment at our clinic, we will always find the nearest time for an unscheduled orthodontist appointment in order to promptly fix problems in the bracket system.
